Cancer Season Astrology Guide: Wine Pairings by Zodiac House

Cancer Season Astrology Guide: Wine Pairings by Zodiac House

Cancer Season June 21 - July 22

After the flexible, quirky and quick witted Gemini Season we move into Cancer. Cancer is a cardinal water sign that is ruled by the moon and symbolized by the crab. Cancer is the nurturer of the zodiac. Cancer energy is heartfelt, inuitive, fierce and famously moody. As evident by their symbol the crab, Cancer's have to walk a fine line between being guarded and building their community through vulnerability. The hard shell that protects a soft underbelly.

Because of this duality Cancer's are also fiercely loyal. If they trust you enough to open up they are often devoted to you for life. While they are often quick to avoid conflict, they are also quick to help others, especially if you're part of their trusted inner circle.

To find out where Cancer is in your chart, you need to calculate your Rising Sign. The Rising sign is based on the date, location and exact time of your birth. There are tons of free calculators out there if you don't already know your Rising sign, personally we love Chani!

Embrace Cancer Season Energy and Wine Pairings by House

1st House (Cancer Rising)

The first house is the house of self, identity and appearance. As a Cancer rising this season is your time to shine. With Cancer in your first house this is all about a cosmic reset. It's a great time for self care or redefining your personal brand based on how you actually feel. This is a reminder to spend as much time nurturing and caring for yourself as you do others in your life.

Wine Pairing:  This season grab a glass of Rioja. This is a spanish red wine that spends a lot of time in barrel, aging, coming into its own. And as a result creates a powerhouse of wine.

2nd House (Gemini Rising)

The second house is the house of money, value and possessions. With Cancer in your 2nd house Cancer Season is a time to try and seek emotional security through your finances. Go through your budget and make sure you're allocating enough of it to the things that actually bring you comfort and joy, not just what you think you need to have.

Wine Pairing:  As you're going through your budget sip on a glass of Gamay. Gamay is a cousin of Pinot Noir. While Pinot is a sensitive grape, Gamay is the quirky, flirty friend.

3rd House (Taurus Rising)

The third house is the house of communications, siblings, and daily rituals. With Cancer in your third house this is the time to spill your secrets and get closer with your immediate community. Connect with neighbors, call your siblings or people who are like siblings and tell them how you're feeling.

Wine Pairing: Gather your closets community over a bottle of Roussanne. A rich white wine that is both grounded and complex - a real Taurus / Cancer combination.

4th House (Aries Rising)

The fourth house is the house of home, family, caregivers and your ancestry. The 4th house is Cancer's natural home. Home is quite literally where Cancer's feel the safest, that's why the crab always has theirs with them. Cancer season for you is all about nesting, redecorating your space or spending more time with family.

Wine Pairing:  Whether you're doing a new DIY project for your space or hosting family in your home we recommend pairing it with some Sangiovese. A wine that's a great combination of bold Aries and comforting Cancer.

5th House (Pisces Rising)

The fifth house is the house of pleasure, romance, children and creative energy. With Cancer in your 5th house you're not looking for surface level connections you want romance that is deep and heartfelt, creative projects that bring out your passionate side. Or cancer season could just be a great excuse for you to connect with your inner child and play a bit.

Wine Pairing: Go deep with some Melon de Bourgogne, a slightly obscure French white wine that will having you diving deep into conversations or passion projects.

6th House (Aquarius Rising)

The sixth house is the house of work, health and pets. With Cancer sitting in your 6th house this is a season where you'll want to inject some more emotions and care into your routines. That might mean a new meditation system, more quality time with pets or making your office feel more comfortable.

Wine Pairing:  While your working on injecting some more of your emotions in your routine sip on some Sauvignon Gris. Sauvignon Gris is a pink mutation of Sauvignon Blanc. A good combo of unconventional Aquarius and nostalgic Cancer.

7th House (Capricorn Rising)

The seventh house is the house of committed partnerships, relationships and collaborations. You don't need a whole bunch of acquaintances, Cancer season is here to remind you to focus your attention on your closets one on one relationships and to foster more emotional intimacy with the people you really care about.

Wine Pairing:  As you're having your intimate and emotional one-on-one relationships we recommend pairing Amarone. Amarone is big, bold Italian red wine made using a special drying process. It takes concentrated work to build a wine like this just like your closets relationships.

8th House (Sagittarius Rising)

The eight house is the house of death, mental health and other people's resources. With Cancer sitting in your 8th house you need to establish emotional connections and trust with the people you're combining your finances with. Sometimes that means needing to be more vulnerable than you're maybe comfortable with, but that little bit of discomfort will lead to better things.

Wine Pairing: As you're dealing with these feelings and maybe even trying to work up the courage to be more vulnerable in these relationships sip on some Blaufrankisch. It's a big, peppery German mouthfull of a wine to help you navigate these big feelings.

9th House (Scorpio Rising)

The ninth house is the house of travel, education, publishing, long term plans and spirituality. With Cancer in your 9th house this season is a great time to broaden your emotional horizons through travel or a new spiritual journey. Plan a trip with a close friend, study something that brings you joy, or try a new spiritual practice.

Wine Pairing: Whether you're planning an actual trip or it's just one you're going to take spiritually or in your mind we recommend sipping on some Aligote. The sometimes forgotten "other" white wine of Burgundy is the perfect combination of mysterious Scorpio and loyal Cancer.

10th House (Libra Rising)

The tenth house is the house of career and public roles. Cancer season is here to remind you to bring empathy and intuition into your professional life. How can you lead by example or how can you make sure you're doing the kind of work that really aligns with your soul.

Wine Pairing:  If you're sitting down to figure out how to lead by example or maybe even figuring out a new career that is better suited to you we think you should do it with a glass of Sancerre in hand. Sauvignon Blanc by another name this wine has the balance of Libra and the creativity of Cancer.

11th House (Virgo Rising)

The eleventh house is the house of community, friends and good fortune. Cancer in your 11th house of friends and community will highlight the importance of an emotional investment in a collective group. This can be both what you bring to your friends and communities and also what having these people in your life brings to you.

Wine Pairing:  As your deepening your emotional relationship to your community we recommend pairing some Petit Verdot. Petit Verdot is a big, bold Bordeaux red grape often used in blending but interesting, peppery and lush when you can find one bottled on it's own.

12th House (Leo Rising)

The twelfth house is the house of sorrow, loss and hidden life. With Cancer in your 12th house this is a season of rest. A time to retreat from the world a bit and prioritize your mental health and emotional baggage. As a Leo rising, your season is coming up next so it's the perfect time for a rest before you take center stage.

Wine Pairing: As you're taking some time to rest and prioritize yourself before it's your time to shine, sip on some Syrah. A spicy bold red that embodies the charismatic Leo and tenacious Cancer.
