Ritual Box Guide - September 2025

September 2025 | Penned by Sabine, somewhere between a sharpened pencil and a glass that refuses to empty

September.

The air shifts—just barely, but enough to notice. A cool edge in the mornings, a faint rustle in the vines that wasn’t there before. It feels like the world is sharpening itself, preparing for what comes next. I find myself making lists I’ll never follow, reorganizing bottles only to uncork them minutes later, chasing that elusive sense of “order” the season promises.

This month at Blackthorn, we’re going back to the beginning—or rather, Back to Blackthorn. Think of it as our own unruly version of back-to-school energy: new notebooks, fresh chalk, a little chaos disguised as structure. Not about knowing more, but about knowing yourself better through what you drink, what you savor, what you choose to ritualize.

Which brings us to your Ritual Box.

Your bottles this month are not a syllabus to memorize but a curriculum to live. No two boxes are alike—yours was chosen with your palate, your curiosity, and your particular kind of magic in mind. So while I could wax poetic about the season’s shift toward structure, or the wines that hum with harvest anticipation, what matters is your glass, your discoveries. The lesson plan is written in cork and spill.

Your Ritual, should you choose to accept it:

  • Clear a space—desk, table, floor—doesn’t matter, as long as it’s yours.

  • Pour something and notice the first thing it says to you (before you even sip).

  • Write a single line in a notebook, on a napkin, on your hand if you must. Let the wine dictate it.

  • Call it study. Call it play. Call it both.

  • And remember: you don’t have to “get it right.” You only have to get it poured.

Here’s to beginnings that aren’t really beginnings.
Here’s to structure that bends when you lean on it.
Here’s to Blackthorn, again and again.
