Edition 1 | March 2, 2026 - March 8, 2026 | Wine for the Week Ahead

This week is all about Virgo and Mercury. We’re starting off with both a Full Moon and a Total Lunar eclipse in Virgo on March 3rd. Full moons in general represent a peak, a culmination of some sort and of course total illumination. This is a great time to release what is no longer serving you and watch whatever it is fade away with the receding moon. They are also a great time to heal, to do some self reflection, some grounding and of course some self-care, whatever that looks like for you.

But this won’t be a normal full moon, because at its peak there will also be a total Lunar eclipse. We’re in the midst of eclipse season right now and eclipses are all about power surges. It is quite literally a blackout. The light changes, the energy changes. So it’s the peak of illumination, but that light is almost immediately getting covered up, the dynamic shifts.

And this is all happening in Virgo, an earth sign that is precise, intellectual and exacting. It’s also a sign that is deeply focused on health, healing and efficiency. It’s easily able to release what isn’t working and is constantly focused on putting something new into place, especially if it will facilitate healing. So this eclipse and full moon happening in Virgo is quite literally about our gut, our digestion, the systems of the body. And it is occurring near the South Node so it’s about the depletion of something or, at the very least, a release.

And, on top of all that, Mercury, the ruler of this full moon and eclipse (because Mercury is the planet that rules Virgo) is currently retrograde. And it’s retrograde in Pisces which is the sign of its detriment and fall. Meaning it’s already not having a great time and it’s in retrograde. So even more reason to be diligent about systems, to make sure everything is in order, and to not take on too much in the first days of March.

What do we need to take in and digest? Where are we having a hard time? Where is our gut off? What do we need to release and / or get grounded in order to help ourselves digest? That is what March 3rd is about.

So to put a wine to that moment, we want to break into a classic - Pinot Noir. We won’t get into the ever changing health benefits too much, wine is still alcohol after all. But since we do want to focus on our gut, on digestion, it is worth noting that Pinot Noir is often considered one of the healthiest wines there is. It’s super high in resveratrol and because of it’s thin skins - low in tannins, making it easier on the palate and easier on the stomach. It’s also a classic Virgoan wine being that it too is precise, clean, often elegant, at times a little intellectual (especially if we’re talking about the deeply complex Burgundian systems), and always just a bit earthy. Pinot Noir is also a wine that needs very little outside influence, rarely blended with any other grapes; it has a purity, intricacy and exactness all its own, much like Virgo.

So on March 3rd, pour yourself a glass of Pinot Noir, find a quiet spot outside to sit and look up at the moon, full for now but know that by the early morning it will be totally eclipsed and take some time for your quiet reflection, focus on your systems and remember that glass of wine and a moment to yourself absolutely counts as self care.

There is one more piece of astrology this week to drink to. On March 7th there is a Mercury Cazimi, meaning Mercury and the sun come together. Mercury is still retrograde here but this is still a very clarifying day, it’s a great day for any kind of communications you want to send out to the world.

So on the 7th, while you invite a friend over or you compose your email, we recommend sipping on a glass of Clairette Blanche. Clairette Blanche is an ancient grape from the South of France. It actually used to be one of the most widely planted white wine grapes in the region and the second most planted white grape in the famous Chateneauf-du-Pape but its acreage has declined steadily for decades. Happily though, it’s making its way back both in France and throughout the vineyards of California in particular. And as the name suggests, “claire” means fair, clear or bright. It’s a wine that is light and fresh with notes of apple, citrus and stone fruit and of course the perfect wine to sip on in this moment of clarity.

Tarot Card of the Week:

The King of Wands is a visionary—strategic, bold, and endlessly ambitious. He isn’t just about the spark of inspiration, but the follow-through, the leadership, and the long game. And his wine pairing is Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Regal, complex, and commanding. This Rhône classic speaks of sun-soaked vineyards, tradition, and depth—a wine that carries both authority and allure. This is a pairing for moments when you’re stepping into your power, when you’re ready to take charge and see a vision through. The King of Wands doesn’t just dream—he makes it happen, glass in hand.
