Edition 18 | June 29, 2026 - July 5, 2026 | Wine for the Week Ahead

Ok Friends, sit back and get comfy because this week is a doozy. And a lot of it is happening right out the gate on Monday June 29th. On Monday Jupiter is moving into Leo, Mercury is stationing retrograde in Cancer and we're getting a full Moon in Capricorn. So let's break down what all that means, and better, what wine to pair with this astrologically packed day. 

 

First up, we have Jupiter moving into Leo. Jupiter changes signs once a year, which means it's been 12 years since it hung out in Leo. Jupiter is the planet of abundance, growth, and luck. It's known as both the wise teacher and the fairy godmother of the solar system. And when it's in Leo it is amplifying Leo qualities of creativity, loyalty, passion and yes sometimes drama. Globally this is a peaking of all things Leo so it's showy and gregarious, it's about celebrity,  stars, and shining at center stage. But it's going to hit everyone a little differently depending on where Leo is in your chart. See where Leo's sitting in your chart to see what area of your life is getting a glow up starting on Monday and throughout the next year. 

 

The other thing happening on Monday is Mercury stationing retrograde in Cancer. Mercury goes retrograde three times a year so you know the general deal. But it being retrograde in Cancer means that we're going to be getting nostalgic. Cancer is a sign that loves memories, it loves collecting things and when Mercury is in retrograde in this sign we're also going to be looking back and remembering how we felt in the past, getting in touch a bit more with our emotions and looking at some of the reasons behind them. Mercury retrogrades in general are always times for us to reevaluate our systems and how things are working in our lives. And in Cancer that means we're looking at those systems through the lens of our emotions. 

 

And then finally, as if those two aren't enough, on Monday we have a Full Moon in Capricorn. Capricorn is a very action oriented, practical sign and so it doesn't get along well with the Moon. The Moon is all about emotions and intuition (that's why the Moon rules Cancer) and so we have a full moon in a sign like Capricorn, it's a good moment to ask how we can best take care of ourselves. The Moon in Capricorn needs extra nourishment, extra care, extra rest. It's a full moon that is going to help shed some light on what our priorities need to be, what's gone wrong, what we need to do instead, what we're clinging on to that isn't actually helping us and that we need to let go of. 

 

And again, that's all on Monday, June 29th. It's a lot. So if we may, we think a little wine might help the situation that day. And if you want to pair it with all the different things happening in this moment we suggest some form of Pinot Noir. Generally we categorize Pinot Noir as a Cancer grape and a lot of the energy of this moment has a very Cancer-esq quality to it. But there are ways to take the same grape and bring some of the other signs energy to the table as well. Go for a classic, champagne style, sparkling if you want to embrace the Leo of it all. Opt for something a little more fancy like a true Burgundy if you want to lean into more of an ambitious, legacy driven Capricorn mood. Or grab a Rosé of Pinot Noir to get into your feelings and revisit some past emotions with Mercury in Cancer. 

 

And then, we enter July. And July is a bit of a crazy month astrologically. But we'll get more into that later. The last thing we'll leave you with for this week is on Friday, July 3rd Mars meets up with Uranus in Gemini. Both Mars and Uranus are disruptors so, them coming together in Gemini, the trickster, while Gemini's ruling planet Mercury is retrograde, is, well, a lot. It's loud, it's explosive, it's actual explosions, it's innovative, it's exciting, it's unconventional and it's definitely disrupting something. So we suggest hunking down with some Gamay, making sure your crystal clear on your own personal goals and where you want to put your energy and see what paradigm shifts unfold. 

The King of Cups is emotionally balanced, calm, and wise. He doesn’t repress feelings but masters them, embodying compassion and steady leadership. And we're pairing this card with Bordeaux Blanc. Bordeaux Blanc (usually a blend of Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon) carries this energy. It’s a wine that is structured yet nuanced, offering bright citrus, florals, and a grounding waxy richness. It’s elegant and collected without being austere.
