Edition 12 | May 18, 2026 - May 24, 2026 | Wine for the Week Ahead

Buckle up, kids, we're heading into Gemini Season. This week, we have two main things to discuss.

First up on May 21st, we officially kick off Gemini Season. This is where we move from the grounded, stable energy of Taurus towards a lighter, faster, and more witty season of Gemini. Gemini is a mutable air sign ruled by Mercury. Often referred to as the most curious, most flexible, and most communicative sign in the Zodiac, our Gemini friends always have a witty take, a sly trick up their sleeve, and the best gossip around. Celebrate Gemini season with some Chardonnay, Cava, or a fun and slightly unpredictable Carbonic wine, and get ready to soak up the energy of Gemini.

Next up this week, on Friday, May 22nd, we have a Uranus Cazimi in Gemini. That means Uranus and the sun are coming together in Gemini. Uranus, you may remember, just moved into Gemini at the end of April for a 7-year-long stay, and now it's meeting up with the sun in Gemini for the first time in 84 years. For centuries, when astronomers studied the sky, Saturn was the last planet they could see. So it came as a bit of a shock, a challenge to their whole concept of the cosmos, when in 1781 they discovered a planet beyond Saturn - Uranus. Because of this, Uranus has a reputation for being a rulebreaker; it's known as the planet of disruption, innovation, and surprises.

So a new Uranus cycle in Gemini means that we're in for breakthroughs in technology, upgrades in communications, innovations that break the mold or go against the old way we thought to do things. Get ready for your newsfeed to be buzzing and for something collectively interesting to happen on Friday. And while you're watching whatever is going viral on Friday, we recommend sipping on some Spanish Cava.

Cava is a traditional method of sparkling wine made in Spain. It's modeled after the French Champagne houses but made with traditional Spanish varieties instead of the classic Chardonnay and Pinot Noir of France. You could argue that the traditional method of sparkling wine on its own was a disruptive innovation, given that originally it was a problem wineries were trying to solve. But Cava in particular has an interesting history of innovation, taking what we expect from the traditional French sparkling method and making it uniquely Spanish. It's got a lot of different sides to it, a lot of complexity, and a lot to share if you're willing to get to know it.

Tarot Card of the Week

The card pull for this week is The Magician. The Magician is about skill, manifestation, and transforming vision into reality. He’s got all the tools laid out before him — fire, water, air, earth — and knows how to use them. And the wine pairing for this card is Chardonnay. Chardonnay is one of the most versatile grapes in the world, capable of becoming anything from crisp, mineral-driven Chablis to rich, buttery Napa expressions. Like The Magician (and like our Gemini friends), it adapts, transforms, and shows mastery of its craft.
