Edition 13 | May 25, 2026 - May 31, 2026 | Wine for the Week Ahead

The astrology is bookending the week for us this week. We start on Monday, May 25th, as Mars makes a square to Pluto. So while we hope everyone is enjoying some extra time off, we should warn you that this is something of a tense signature. Whenever Mars and Pluto square off, expect tension and conflict. The planet of decisive action is squaring off against the mysterious power of the unknown.

And this time it's Mars in Taurus making a square to Pluto in Aquarius, which, as we talked about a few weeks ago, is currently retrograde. Mars in Taurus craves consistency and stability, while Pluto retrograde in Aquarius asks us to take a closer look at who, where, and how we're spending our time. That stability can get thrown off by what's lurking under the surface.

I want to focus more on the personal side of things instead of what this could mean on the world stage. If you're not already too overwhelmed, I would keep an eye on the news on Monday to see what tensions are arising or what's being brought to light. Personally, though, there are ways to work with this astrology. This is a great time to look inward and explore our own drive. It's a time to tap into your intuition and follow your hunches. While you may want to use that drive from Mars to keep moving forward, maybe there's something deep down you know you need to confront first.

And while you're looking inward to learn how to tap into this energy for your own goals, we recommend sipping on some Riesling. Riesling is not just a sweet wine. In fact, a lot of Rieslings don't taste sweet at all. Riesling is actually one of the most complex wines out there. But it may not seem that way from the surface. The layers of sweetness, acid, and intensity are lurking behind a somewhat simple, often misunderstood package. All of which makes it the best wine to help shepherd you through this intense energy.

And then we move on to the end of the week, on Sunday, May 31st, with a Full Moon in Sagittarius. In general, full moons are about culmination and about illuminating something. This is a time to wrap up whatever it is you started working on back on the new moon or to shed light on an issue you've been trying to deal with.

On this Blue Moon, the Sun in Gemini is illuminating the Moon in Sagittarius. And a Full Moon with these two is all about a mental push and pull. The Gemini Sun wants us to think logically, while a Sagittarius Moon pushes us towards intuition and to think more broadly. Our work is to bring those two things into balance. This is a Full Moon that will help us to illuminate the paths we've outgrown, the beliefs we're ready to release, and a chance to expand beyond our current limitations - self-imposed or not.

And while you're concentrating on what this Full Moon is illuminating for you, we suggest sipping on some Torrontes. This Argentinian white is bright, aromatic, and balanced. It will help cut through the noise and help you focus on what really matters while you try to bring things into balance.

Tarot Card of the Week

The Five of Pentacles is a card of loss, struggle, and feeling left out in the cold. Yet it also reminds us of resilience, community, and finding warmth even in hard times. And the wine pairing for this card is Carignan. Carignan is the scrappy survivor of the vineyard — once dismissed as too rough or too common, yet capable of unexpected depth when given care. It’s rustic and earthy, with brambly fruit, dried herbs, and a touch of grit that speaks of resilience.
